Andrew Findlay

I have been interested in photography since the age of 7, and for many years did all my own developing and printing. When I switched to colour prints I had to give up this control over the process, but the arrival of digital manipulation has allowed me to return to some of the old tricks.

My exhibited work is mostly based on the themes of rock and wood: light, texture, and pattern combining to turn a `found object' into a picture. Sometimes I use the more extreme digital effects to create something new from an otherwise simple image, and sometimes I arrange rocks in piles, but mostly my pictures are of things that already existed before I came along and saw them.

More photographs can be found on my own website. The book Taplow at the Millennium also features a number of my photos.

More recently I have been helping my sister Kate Findlay with technical aspects of her amazing textile and fibre-optic artwork.
